MEKO inside

CarPeople strengthens MEKO’s offering for car dealers

For decades, MEKO has built its position around the car through repair, maintenance, and service. With CarPeople, the Group is now strengthening its offering for car dealers – a customer segment with significant and recurring demand for MEKO’s products and services.

CarPeople strengthens MEKO’s offering for car dealers

The automotive industry is changing. Relationships between car manufacturers and dealers are evolving, while used car sales and the aftermarket are becoming increasingly important parts of the business for many dealers. MEKO sees a clear opportunity in this changing landscape.

Through CarPeople, MEKO offers local car dealers a network that allows them to continue running their businesses independently while gaining access to the scale, infrastructure, and expertise MEKO has already built around the car.

The ambition is for CarPeople to grow from its launch into an established network with a presence in several parts of Sweden within a year.

“We see an opportunity to build on what MEKO already does well and use our strength in the aftermarket to support car dealers in developing their businesses. Our role is clear: we want to help dealers grow their used car business, including through repair and maintenance,” says Erik Angervall, Head of MEKO Sweden.

Building on ten years of experience in Denmark

CarPeople is new to Sweden, but the concept has been established in Denmark for more than ten years. Today, the Danish network includes more than 90 car dealers, ranging from independent businesses to companies that currently represent, or previously represented, different car brands.

The experience gained in Denmark gives the Swedish launch a strong foundation. At the same time, the concept will be adapted to the Swedish market, where conditions and business needs can vary considerably from one location to another.

Leading the rollout of CarPeople in Sweden is Morten Westby. Morten brings 40 years of experience from the automotive industry and has worked with around 30 car brands throughout his career, including in senior positions at Hedin and Bilia.

“I’ve seen many different ways of running a car dealership over the years. A smaller dealer in a smaller town has different needs from a larger dealer representing several brands. What they have in common is the ambition to develop their own business while benefiting from being part of something bigger. That’s where MEKO and CarPeople can make a difference,” says Morten.

Bringing car sales and the aftermarket closer together

Connecting car sales with the aftermarket is at the heart of the initiative. For many dealers, used car sales and the services that follow a vehicle purchase – including repair and maintenance – are increasingly important contributors to profitability.

MEKO already has a strong position in the aftermarket, with logistics, parts distribution, workshop concepts, digital solutions, and an extensive network. Through CarPeople, this is complemented by solutions and partnerships designed to strengthen dealers’ used car businesses, including systems and tools as well as financing, warranties, and insurance.

At the same time, a fundamental principle of CarPeople is that local dealers retain ownership of their businesses, their identities, and their customer relationships.

“There is tremendous value in being local. Dealers know their customers and their markets, and we have no intention of changing that. CarPeople will contribute in areas where working together and operating at greater scale can create more value,” says Erik.

Over time, MEKO also sees opportunities for participating dealers to source and trade vehicles within the network, both in Sweden and across the border with Denmark.

“We bring extensive experience from two different parts of the automotive industry, but we don’t claim to have all the answers. CarPeople will develop together with our dealers and partners. That’s also where I believe the greatest potential lies,” says Erik.

As businesses keep moving, the need for smarter vehicle service grows

05 October 2026

Every day, millions of company-owned vehicles travel Europe’s roads. They deliver packages, transport people, maintain properties, and keep businesses running. But when a vehicle is out of service, the impact extends far beyond the vehicle itself—it can disrupt operations, costing businesses both time and money.

Meeting the growing demand for bus, truck, and trailer service

29 September 2026

Every day, food is delivered to grocery stores, packages arrive at customers’ doorsteps, and materials reach construction sites. Behind every delivery is a commercial vehicle that needs to stay on the road. When a truck or delivery van is sidelined, the impact goes far beyond the vehicle itself — deliveries are delayed, schedules fall behind, and costs rise with every passing minute.
